Who we are

Every Sunday morning, a group of women, men and children gather in the sanctuary of our church and there re-create a community. Drawn from diverse traditions, more than a score of towns in southern New Hampshire, and the separateness of their daily lives, these people turn to each other to draw strength and to share it.

It is a community created on trust, care and a recognition of both the frailty and the strength of humanity. We minister to each other, even as we debate a social justice or religious issue. We have grown to appreciate our many differences, while being lifted by the care we give one another.

We have members and friends totalling 250 warm, delightful, and devoted people. Well balanced through all the age groups, we feel we are a group that knows and cares for each other, while at the same time welcomes newcomers.

We are a voice for social justice in the Souhegan Valley, concerned about and participating in regional, national and international programs.

We are a "Welcoming Congregation," intentionally inclusive of and welcoming gay, bi-sexual, lesbian and trans-gendered people.

We are accessible to people with disabilities.

All are welcome to join our congregation who share the values affirmed in our principles and who wish to convenant with others to fulfill our vision of loving community, active service, ethical responsibility and spiritual celebration.

We the people of the

Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Milford

commit ourselves to a vision.

We seek to serve as an ever brightening beacon

that lights the heart, mind, and spirit;

a beacon of love and of hope;

of comfort and of challenge;

of learning and of teaching;

of peace and of justice.

It shall be a beacon for both our inner community

and the community at large,

illuminating and affirming our diversity

as well as our common ground;

a beacon for all ages and through all ages.
