 GRAVEYARD MYSTERY ... HISTORY & MOJO LEARNING OPTIONS

 Engaging multimedia educational lectures appropriate for corresponding grade levels

 Topics Include:

 Dispel the fear associated with graveyards – through the appreciation of beauty, art and old fashioned family traditions

 Discover how graveyards are outdoor museums and why tombstones are awesome historical learning tools

 Discover what tombstones depict about the historical past and evolution of a community

 Identifying architectural styles utilized and corresponding timelines in history

 Appreciation of gravestone art and transitions noted through various historical time periods

 Understanding gravestone symbolism, epitaphs, and inscriptions

 Common burial customs and folklore galore

 ORGANIZED FIELD TRIPS - SUPERVISED HANDS ON FIELD WORK

 We will partner with a local cemetery in your area to offer to you an unforgettable and rewarding educational experience

 Discuss the importance of historical preservation to instill respect and appreciation for our historical past

 Discuss the historical background of the graveyard

 Identify different types of stone compositions - symbolism – inscriptions - epitaphs

 Identify organic and inorganic substances commonly seen on tombstones

 Observe when applicable – the location of voids, sunken - lost graves, displaced headstones, and missing fragments

 Identifying vandalism

 Observe the practical use of a dowsing rod in a graveyard

 Work in small supervised groups with the students to clean gravestones

 The students will partake in a fun yet educational tombstone scavenger hunt   

 Last but NOT least students will enjoy a Victorian style picnic together

 COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS

 We can work with your students and partner with a local graveyard in your area to organize an educational community service project

 The particular tasks performed will be tailored to the needs of the graveyard and will be focused on the aspect of serving

 Allows students the opportunity to learn and serve the community

 Cooperative Group Effort - Empowering Personal Achievement    

 Discuss the importance of historical preservation to instill respect and appreciation for our historical past

 Discuss the historical background of the graveyard

 The students will partake in a fun yet educational tombstone scavenger hunt

 Last but NOT least students will enjoy a Victorian style picnic will need to bring a packed lunch

THE TOMBSTONEFIXER UPPER HOSPITAL WORKSHOP

 Exclusive hands on tombstone restoration workshop at your school

 Designed to educate about the restorative process of historical tombstones

 Explanation/ examples of common various states which comprise the soundness of tombstones

 Discuss historical preservation protocols used in the restoration process.

 Students will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned through

 Small group restorative work on replica tombstones

Program Pricing:to serve the Great Lakesarea and Beyond

We are available year round to serve the Great Lakes area and Beyond

Gas - airline tickets - travel time and lodging is not included and will 

be added on accordingly to the Estimate / Invoice

Educational Lectures

Professional Fee for the Lectures is $250 

Each lecture will run about 40 - 45 minutes in duration for grades K-5

1 hour duration for grades 6-12  

Graveyard Stones + Bones – Field Trip

Professional Fee for the Organized Field Trip - is $600.00     

Organized Field Trips are 3 hours in duration Grades K-6

Organized Field Trips are 3 1/2 hours in duration Grades 7-12

The Graveyard Sleuth program is offered to you by Andrea Klinken and Laura Ghedotte from Sacred Spaces LLC - a professional graveyard restoration company based out of Washington TownshipMichiganwith a passion for promoting preservation of historical graveyards to the community.

Sacred Spaces LLC - brings to the table 7 years of experience and training in complex aspects of cemetery restoration along with the invaluable skill of knowing WHAT it takes to get children excited, motivated, and educationally curious and HOW to execute the grand master plan of sneaking in educational content.

Sacred Spaces LLC’s aspiration is to cultivate a generation of youth who will lead the way as advocates of historical preservation through the mode of education / supervised hands on workshops and community service to ultimately deter vandalism.

The youth of our generation will have the greatest impact upon the fate of our beloved historical graveyards. For it is through educating the youth within the community about the importance of historical preservation that will awaken their consciousness to appreciate the beauty and value of the historical past, present and future.
