Children's Book Author »

In this punchy interactive workshop, the author will brainstorm ideas with children and challenge them to create story premises. Age/grade appropriate story-planner worksheets are provided, along with additional keepsakes. (Using worksheets allows the author to detail the important steps of writing & developing stories and characters.) Tabatha will also show early drafts to finished samples of the characters from her early reader chapter book Marvin Monster's Big Date. (Showing art samples allows children to realize the importance of change and persistence in order to master a goal.) Then children will welcome a role-play session and have a chance to act as the author and discuss the premise of their worksheet. (This is an entertaining and positive benefit which often boosts writing confidence and self-esteem.)

Children will also appreciate keepsakes from Tabatha Jean D'Agata's filled treasure chest. This workshop can be modified to suit your needs. A book reading ranging 5 - 10 minutes may also be incorporated at the opening, depending on grade level and allowed time. Discussion of the book is always encouraged. *Author supplies all materials: boxed crayons for each child, pencils, keepsakes, educational handouts and more.
