Music Through the Ages with a Beat, for the 2002 - 2003 school year will be CHARACTER EDUCATION. Mr. Hickman uses a variety of instruments such as: the guitar, mandolin, penny whistle and boudhran. Mr. Hickman will include songs about honesty, responsibility, self worth,self confidence, respect, accountibility and cooperation. p> Children are drawn to Mr. Hickman's approach to music and his program, always wanting more. This program is in high demand by schools, in-service workshops, music camps, festivals and conferences.
Bruce Hickman is a musician who adapts his presentation of music and laughter to the age of his audience. His involvement with music which began in 1962, as a percussionist, now ranges from strings to winds.
Hickman has received numerous honors such as playing for Pres. Nixon and family at the White House in 1972. He was recorded by the Museum of American History (Smithsonian) in Washington D.C.
He has played with numerous types of musical groups including: The Hamfat Jug Band (Bluegrass and Country music) of our nation's capitol, The Blarney Stones (an Irish Dance Group), and The Capitol Quicksteps Quadrille Orchestra (International Folk music).
Hickman loves children of all ages and teaches through his musical example. His positive attitude and fun approach to music encourages a never give up attitude in his audience.
