Scott Kepnes presents a creative, humorous, upbeat performance that appeals to both children and adults. His show features songs, stories and poetry accompanied by guitar, percussion and harmonica with a folk, rock, blues style. An abundance of audience participation evolves in the form of creative movement, singing and interactive storytelling. His performance, with focus on imagination, environmental and family themes, encourages self esteem, cooporation, and creativity. Specializing in preschool through sixth grade and family audiences, Scott has been featured at elementery schools, daycare centers, libraries, festivals, hospitals, conferences and workshops for teachers. He is the music specialist for many daycare centers in the Boston and surrounding area. As a teacher and performer, Scott is committed to the integration of the arts in education.

Scott studied Early Childhood Education and is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, 1985. While Working for building contracters for the next five years in Pittsfield Massachusetts and surrounding towns, he began performing songs at area daycare centers and schools. In 1990 Scott began teaching preschool in the Boston area. This gave him the daily opportunity to write new songs, stories, try them out and his original repetoire evolved into the fun, educational, interactive performance of today! Now, in 2000 Scott continues to teach preschool at the Lemberg Children's Center at Brandeis University, Waltham Massachusetts. In addition to frequent musical performances and teaching music (and science) to young children Scott offers music with young children workshops for teachers. He loves the outdoors and is an avid backpacker and scubadiver. Scott, his wife Elizabeth, their daughter Merida and son Isaiah live in Haverhill Massachusetts.
