Bonzai Comedy's Educational Programs presents this year's No Ifs, Ands or Butts (Tobacco Education) and Its A Matter of Character (Character Education). These programs are an exciting collaboration with Mark Bunnell and Andrea Terry. Each program is a powerful blend of education and entertainment and both incorporate an inspirational message with juggling, comedy, live music, magic, audience participation and storytelling. Both programs are suitable for K-12, and the each is modified to be age appropriate for grade levels present.
Its A Matter of Character, is a motivational programs based on the principals of character development and resiliency factors. Mark Bunnell, MA Counseling, is a former elementary counselor who has been presenting motivational workshops and programs for over 10 years. Mark utilizes juggling, storytelling, unicycling, magic and comedy as vehicles for metaphor and to explain key steps in his motivational philosophy. With a rare combination of clinical knowledge and circus physicality, this is one of the most exciting and insightful assemblies your students will ever see.
No Ifs, Ands or Butts, is a tobacco education program that incorportes technical juggling, giant unicycle stunts, comedy, live music and comical storytelling to engage students and teachers in an enteraining and educational show. Themes such as short and long term affects of smoking, addictive nature of nicotine, targeting of teens and pre-teens in tobacco ads, and the media manipulation surrounding the image of smoking are dealt with in a powerful theatrical manner. This assembly employs resiliency strategies to empower students to make positive-educated choices regarding their individual lives. This program has received several grants and rave reviews from hundreds of schools!
Since 1996, Bonzai Educational Programs have made Tobacco Prevention and Character Development a priority in school assembly programs. These programs have been awarded numorous grants and have been invited to present at Health and Prevention Conferences throughout California, including The Annual Tobacco Conference at UC Berekely and San Mateo County's Prevention Strategy Conference.
Well known entertainers/educators, Mark Bunnell and Andrea Terry deliver each program with theatrical flair and well grasped knowledge. Each program blends an educational message throughout the show, with juggling, comedy, live music and storytelling. Mark brings his background of MA Counseling; Andrea brings her background in Fine Art and Music, and together, they bring their collective backgrounds of comedy, juggling, and theater to instigate positive role modeling within the larger scope of prevention and resiliency based programs.
Each program is suitable for K-12, and is modified to be age appropriate for grade levels present. In meeting the current California Department of Education's requirements and guidelines for funding for assemblies, pre/post show study guides are provided to reinforce message and provide accountability. In-Class workshops are also offered for follow up messages in smaller group settings.
