Hand Dale Colgrove any musical instrument and he will play it...and WELL! --- Ft. Worth Star Telegram
Centuries of music history come alive as master musician/performer, Dale Colgrove, demonstrates more than 30, rare and exotic musical instruments from his 100+ collection. Representing virtually every world culture and historical period, these instruments are truly unique--seldom seen or heard, each a museum piece, and Dale plays them all.
As each instrument is introduced, Dale's audiences learn basic music theory as applied to the instrument, while learning about the unique historical and cultural characteristics of the instrument being played.
"His delivery style is reminiscent of the great variety showmen of Entertainment's glory days--versatile and spontaneous, and always a hefty sprinkling of genuine, Dale Colgrove, panache..."
(Devoted & Long-time Patron).
Putting all the ocarinas, recorders, whistles, bells and thing-a-ma-jigs aside, Dale's exceptional cornet playing is a definite high-point in the presentation. He is a skilled and commanding player, whose love and allegiance is to early, Traditional Jazz and all of the turn-of-the-century, solo cornet classics. He also loves to play the 'EWI', (Electronic Wind Instrument, Akai Corporation), and the 'Yamaha WX5', (Wind MIDI Controller)...both, simply dazzling examples of modern, technological applications in instrumental music.
Dale is continuously sensitive to the needs of the specific social/cultural/age group he is addressing, and he naturally sustains the audience's attention and receives their frequent applause as he plays. Participation is a must in this fun and very informative, 45 minute presentation.
Activities include spontaneous singing, singalongs, call and response, rhythm clapping and student showcases...even the making and playing of simple instruments derived from common household items.
Dale has been presenting this program throughout the nation for nearly 10 years in schools, hospitals, at special events and in his own classrooms, (TEKS compliant). Every program has been enthusiastically received, and keeps getting better as the musical instrument collection grows!
Perfect for instrumental music/band recruitment programs and general music classes. Appealing to every age/cultural group.
Residencies, seminars, lectures and clinics also available on music/performance/business related subjects.
