David is a rare talent. He IS poetry in motion. A brilliant show. This is a performance NOT to be missed. --- Miriam Kronish - Principal, Needham, MA
Poetry in Motion "If you like to dream come with me...." So begins Poetry in Motion, an exhilarating tour de force for actor/mime David Zucker. It combines acting, mime, humor, audience participation and an old steamer trunk brimming with props, costumes, masks, and puppets; bringing the best children's poetry vividly to life and introducing an irresistible cast of characters. It is a fanciful journey charted by the wonders of childhood experience and by David Zucker's 30 years of experience performing for children all over the world.
David has memorized and choreographed over 75 poems. Represented are works of such authors as A. A. Milne, Lewis Carroll, Langston Hughes, James Whitcomb Riley, Jack Prelutsky, Karla Kuskin, Edgar Allen Poe and many more.
Travel back in time to relive James Whitcomb Riley's nostalgic Circus Day Parade or The Raggedy Man; giggle over the sticky situation that develops with Karla Kuskin's Hughbert and the Glue; tangle your tongue around twisters that are a delight to recite; recall the sadness of losing a beloved pet in When My Dog Died; shiver as Little Orphant Annie spins the tale about the "goblins who'll gitcha if ya don't watch out;" chew on the clues of several challenging riddle poems; and join in the hunt for the infamous Jabberwock.
Extensive classroom support materials and exercises are packaged with the performance.
