Women's A Capella Vocal Ensemble »
Concert performances suited to a variety of settings including schools, festivals, concert series and special events. Workshops, residencies, and master classes for adults and young adults are offered that delight and enrich singers and non-singers. Using vocal improvisation, percussion instruments, and movement, participants experience affirmation and joy in self-expression, as well as an increased understanding of vocal technique. Options include: vocal improvisation and finding one's inner voice; voice classes for all levels of musical ability; choral coaching for student vocal ensembles; and master classes for individuals or small ensembles. All classes can offer experience in part singing, rounds, chants, and improvisation.
The unique sound of this ensemble is an extraordinary blend of seven solo-quality women's voices. Their soaring harmonies express their love of singing and their commitment to making connections with each other, their audience, and the world. Since they began singing together in 1991, femme m'amie (which means woman, my friend) has been enthusiastically received at standing-room only crowds across New England. Their repertoire includes original songs by its members and other NH composers, contemporary American harmonies, and music from other cultures and continents. Their first recording, Songs of Hands, has been a smashing success, undergoing a second pressing within the first three months of release.
