Residencies; exhibitions of Stuart's paintings and drawings; painting classes; slide shows of Stuart's work and talk on how it fits into the larger art scene.
School Residency Activities: Ranging from small classes exploring oil painting and oil pastels for high school and middle school students, including technique and individual expression, to a more general program focusing on creative approaches to interpreting the everyday world around us through the visual medium (which forms his own work). Also to involve the whole student and population, slide-discussion activities, or aspects of art from the artist's perspective.
For grades: Grades 4-12.
Geographic Area Served: Within an hour of Northwood, further by arrangement.
Teacher and Adult/Child Workshops: It is very important to link the residency activities proposed to the continuity of art education in the schools. Activities would stress Stuart's personal art and his approach of finding the extraordinary within the ordinary. Adult/Child workshops present interesting opportunities to involve family relationships into the art equation. Hands-on sessions encourage working collaboratively to expand artistic horizons and explore basic art concepts.
